WHERE I COME FROM

I was born, in northwestern Pennsylvania, into a family of very modest means.  My parents divorced very early in my life and I grew up with two half-sisters and a step-father.  My family moved to Camp Hill in 1965 and I graduated from Cedar Cliff High School in 1969.  I worked, to pay my own tuition, while attending HACC.  Following HACC I attended Shippensburg State College where I graduated from in 1974 with a BS in Management.  While at Shippensburg I met my wife, Karen, and we married in 1974. We have been married for almost 51 years and have two children and seven grandchildren.

A THRIVING CAREER

I worked in banking and corporate finance after graduation, until 1982.  In 1982 I joined York Hospital as their Patient Account Manager.  Over the next 36 years I held several different positions within the organization, which itself grew and became WellSpan Health.  When I retired from WellSpan Health I was Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of WellSpan Population Health Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of WellSpan Health.  I managed an organization of more than 100 staff members with an annual budget in excess of $10 million.

A HISTORY OF SERVICE

When our children were young, our commitment began with local youth organizations, including Mechanicsburg Baseball, Soccer, and Swim Club, as well as various school PTO and Booster Club activities. My formal public service began in 1989 with my election to the MASD Board of School Directors. Over my 14-year tenure, I served as Vice-President and President, championing the construction of a new middle school in Upper Allen Township, establishing the Wildcat Foundation, and successfully working to keep our school taxes low.

DEDICATED TO UPPER ALLEN TWP

In 2004, my focus shifted directly to the township when I was elected to the Upper Allen Township Board of Commissioners (BOC). During my 21 years on the BOC, I have held the roles of Vice-President and President. Karen's commitment mirrors mine. Since 2004, she has been active in the Upper Allen Woman's Club and has spent 20 years supporting the Simpson Library on both the Friends Board and as a library trustee.

ONGOING COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Our service continues today: - We both serve on the board of Mechanicsburg Area Meals on Wheels. - We routinely volunteer to support Keystone FC. - I am a proud member of Mechanicsburg American Legion Post 109 and VFW Post 7530. - We attend West Shore Free Church. This record demonstrates a depth of service and a continuous, multi-decade commitment to Upper Allen Township that no other candidate running for Commissioner can match.
